Oh boy! This summer has been quite busy and filled with glass. I was invited to participate in the Arts COmmission of Greater Toledo's HOT SHOTS event. We made some glass in partnership with a local bar/restaurant and there is going to be an auction of the objects along with a bourbon tasting...perfect! I have been getting a ton of press and was even invited to appear on the local morning show to hype the event. I was also the guest instagrammer for the Art Loop Toledo account, again sponsored by the Arts Commish. Follow that account to see tons of glass from the Hot SHOTS event and more.
Getting plenty of mileage out of these awesome images from Tom Brooks. The old fishwrapper does a great job of not mentioning my name once, but uses my image and an awkwardly cropped image of my glass. Oh well, even bad press is good press! Have a look below to see a the clip from the news.
Water or glass? Check out some new coldworking that I have been doing for good friend, Matt Paskiet. The surface of this object has been cut and polished to create ripples and dapples of light on the colors below, just like sunlight through clear water.
Thanks to everyone who came out these last few months for the third Thursday Art Loops. The weather and a downtown packed with activities have made sales a bit sparse, so I hope we get some good weather and a buying crowd for the next one on July 21!
What else...UT's Art on the Mall! I was accepted to this famous show and cannot wait! I've been working on my display and will have some new items for this show. Be sure to come check it out, there will be t...
Im pleased say that I will have a spot at Packo's at the Park for Art Loop Thursdays through September. What a fun location, right across from the ballpark and close to plenty of good food and drink! More information about the Art Loop and schedule here.
Had a wild time this past weekend at the Sandusky County Art and Music Festival in Freemont Ohio! Thanks to George from the Strand Theatre and all the other organizers, vendors, and new friends!
*I also recently acquired some new molds that I plan on using for new work for both shows and galleries. Touch of Light Studio in Ferndale MI is liquidating after many years in the biz and he has lots of used stuff in good condition at the right price!
Thanks to everyone who came out for Firenation's Spring Open House to see my demo of the Wacky Banana! I had a great time; the crowd was awesome, my assistants were spot on, and Matt and the Firenation Crew were generous as always. Check out the gallery below for some great photos of the demo. Friend and photographer Bill Hamilton does a fantastic job telling the story of the Wacky Banana. Stay tuned for a photo of the finished piece!
